Men’s Health

Comprehensive Health Care for Men

We offer a comprehensive range of men’s health services for men of all ages and stages. We are your team of family and preventative medical experts to help you watch over your health.

We want to make it easy for men to prioritise their health. We understand how hard it can be sometimes to see the complete picture of your health when you lead a hectic life.

Men’s Health

All too often men neglect their health until a serious problem arises. Most men are particularly good at NOT having regular medical checks.

Health checks are very important and we encourage all men to have a men’s health check at least once every three years, more often for men over 50. As a man you need to be in control of your health and stay well for your family.

Our doctors understand that many conditions and diseases affect men and women differently.

Compassionate and Complete Health Care for Men

During your appointment for your men’s health check we will look at your blood pressure, height and weight. We will ask about your past health history and family health history.

We will do blood tests checking for a range of conditions including diabetes, diet, high cholesterol, prostate and bowel cancer, and anything that particularly concerns you.

Our Men’s Health Checks include:

  • weight check
  • blood pressure
  • skin cancer checks
  • heart health checks
  • testicular examination
  • prostate check
  • urine test for diabetes and kidney disease
  • glucose, cholesterol, thyroid function and PSA (prostate specific antigen)

We also offer help with:

  • depression and other mental health issues
  • alcohol use
  • smoking
  • sexual health issues

Our doctors are very familiar with men’s health issues such as erectile dysfunction and sexual issues. These are very important matters and our doctors are very skilled in helping men and couples with these conditions.

Talking to Your Doctor

We appreciate that each person’s health situation is unique and getting health care can be complicated. Only by talking with your doctor, nurses, and other people on your health care team, can you make sure you are getting the best treatment for you.

Don’t wait for your doctor to ask questions. Share everything, even information that might be embarrassing. This information can help your doctor make better recommendations.

Ask as many questions as you need to understand your diagnosis. If you do not ask questions, your doctor may think you understand everything you are being told.

Don’t be afraid, don’t be embarrassed. If you speak up, you and your doctor can work together to find the best treatment for you.

Our treatment of the men in our community has a strong emphasis on health education and preventative medicine so you can get on with life. We look forward to seeing you at MacLaren Health, West Auckland.

We will always treat you with care, compassion and discretion. Our job is not to judge but to help.
